am a specialist psychiatrist in private practice at the Mayo Clinic in
Constantia Kloof and in Victory Park, Johannesburg. I also hold a
part-time state appointment.
My medical qualifications include an M.B.B.Ch. and the psychiatric specialist qualifications, D.P.M and F.F. Psych. since 1974/1975. I also hold a B.A. Honours Degree in Psychology and have a special interest, and experience in, forensic and medico-legal psychiatry and criminology. I have passed university courses in criminology, criminal law, criminal procedure and police science. I also hold certificates in Medicine and Law from the Universities of Pretoria and South Africa. I have been involved over the past 30 years, in the treatment of very many patients with alcohol and/or drug problems, either alone or co-existing with psychiatric disorders. I have also had training in hypnotherapy and eye movement desensitisation reprogramming and other techniques useful in trauma counseling and the treatment of post traumatic stress disorder. I have extensive experience, and have given evidence, in court cases.
